The air is crisp and cool as the day begins, morning light filtering through the trees, and the faraway scent of fall leaves drifting in the breeze.
The girls crowd around the dining room table, laughing and chattering about the frozen serving spoons on Nina’s eyes. They wear a rainbow of men’s shirts, as their dresses are still neatly lined up in the upstairs bedroom. A wedding portrait of Nina’s mother and father observes the scene from atop the grandfather clock.
Here’s to Nina and Ryan: he, who wears a pink tie as a blindfold at her request; and she, who still recalls with a shy smile their first time meeting in college. Here’s to the couple who will definitely still be gettin’ down with their bad selves on the dance floor in 30 years–not a doubt in my mind!
Thank you, Ryan and Nina, for allowing me the honor of capturing such a joyous and spectacular celebration.
