Okay, okay, I’ll just go ahead and say it: Dan and Angela (collectively “Dangela”) are just the coolest. I knew this from the moment my assistant and I met them to shoot their awesome engagement photos last year, and, after some quality bonding over Arrested Development quotes, I was literally counting down the days to their March 1 wedding.
The details of Angela and Dan’s big day are both sophisticated and personal, bursting with total ‘Dangelaness.’ Angela’s jewelry was handcrafted by her grandfather before he passed away, and the gloves are a family heirloom. Her hairpiece belonged to her aunt on her wedding day, and the lucite purse perfectly matches her sparkly gold and suede (yes, you heard me, SPARKLY GOLD AND SUEDE) Jimmy Choos. (Did I mention the flower girl and the bride’s mother had matching ‘Choos? Seriously, I was dying, it was so fantastic.)
A packed house at Assumption Catholic Church in Near North Side celebrated the joyous union of the newly-nuptialed Dangela, and guests enjoyed the cocktail hour while the wedding party cavorted over to the Union Club for some classy group photos. After a delicious dinner at Galleria Marchetti, the dance floor really got rockin’, and the evening roared to a peak during an energetic performance of “25 or 6 to 4” with the groom himself on drums!!
One of the (many) things I love about Angela and Dan is how genuinely elated they are to be around one another. Before their engagement session in Chicago last year, when they told me they wanted to do photos with Dan playing the drum set at Music Garage, I was very curious to see how it would work out. I had always considered percussion to be a solo activity–until I met Dan and Angela. Angela REALLY gets into the groove whenever Dan plays, and her pure joy of being next to him while he performs just makes me so happy to watch. Their bliss together is totally contagious!
Dangie, you two are the cheese to each other’s macaroni, and I wish you all the best. You better believe I’m gonna take you up on that drink the next time I’m in Chi-town.
