From the moment we shared a round of morning Bloody Marys at their engagement session, I knew–without a doubt–that Doug and Queena’s wedding was going to be a BLAST. And let me tell you, dear readers, this group definitely puts the ‘party’ in ‘wedding party.’ (Haaa, see what I did there?! Apparently I can’t write a blog post without working in at least one terrible pun…) Everyone was dressed to the nines for Queena & Doug’s sentimental ceremony at St. Michael in Old Town, followed by a gorgeous cocktail hour, tea ceremony, and reception at the W City Center. As guests danced late into the night, Doug and Queena showed me a secret wall (not even joking about this, it was SO COOL) to sneak out onto the roof for a midnight picture–a perfect end to a perfect day! It was an absolutely gorgous day in Chi-town, tailor-made for Brittany & Eric’s engagement session. I couldn’t have asked for better weather or a better couple! Eric and Brittany are incredibly sweet and fun to be around. They were super patient while we waited for pedestrians to pass (and then more pedestrians… and a few moooore…) down by the river near where Eric proposed, and they were totally game for going to a bunch of different locations to take photos. My favorite kind of photo subjects!! :)
Brittany and Eric, I can’t WAIT for your big day next year, and am so elated to be your photographer!!
Ethan and Paige are one of the most fun-loving, adventurous couples I’ve ever had the pleasure to shoot. We headed out to Ault Park and Over-the-Rhine to enjoy one of the last fresh snowfalls of the season and get some awesome photos. Their dog, Max, is a total sweetheart (and photo ham), and enjoyed playing in the snow as much as they did!
Stephanie and Sean’s luxurious wedding took place on Valentine’s Day–how fitting, to celebrate their new life together and the love of their friends and families attending! After a beautiful service at St. James and a frigid romp in the park (we’re talking below zero Fahrenheit, folks–Stephanie and Sean are SUCH TROOPERS), the blush and gold reception and glittering, candlelit ambiance set the mood for a romantic evening of laughter and dancing.
High atop a hill in northern Kentucky, overlooking the bustling city below, a 19th-Century Bavarian Mansion proudly sits, swathed in winter spirit for Lauren and Matt’s big day. The Wiedemann Hill Mansion holds personal meaning to Lauren and Matt, so it’s hard to imagine a more perfect place for their classic, bespoke wedding. A neutral palette and tasteful details glisten among the intricate historic woodwork, while golden January light streams through the giant stained glass windows to illuminate this elegant affair.
What a year it’s been! 2014 was amazing on so many levels. I met so many incredible people, captured some absolutely wonderful marriages, and got engaged myself! I couldn’t ask for a better (and busier!) year.
I am so lucky to capture each and every moment that my couples entrust me with, and I find it really difficult to narrow things down! But, if I had to pick my favorites from this past year, here are the images that truly make my heart skip a beat.
Last spring, when I first photographed Cory and Beth for their engagement session, there was no doubt in my mind that their wedding was going to be awesome. These two made sure that their big day was truly, completely, unequivocally them. You’ve gotta see their reversed ‘traditional’ colors (Beth wore black, Cory wore white), Beth’s incredible spiked heels (can you say FIERCE?!), and the hops and barley in the bouquet and boutonnieres to represent their love of craft beer! (Speaking of which… that Madtree selection at the reception… be still, my heart!)
Beth and Cory are 100% the bee’s knees, and it’s obvious that they’re made for each other–if ever there were a couple who were perfect puzzle pieces, it’s them.
Beth and Cory, I can’t wait for our craft beer and Wario Ware shindig tomorrow night. ;) And friends and family–be sure to check out Cory and Beth’s full gallery by clicking here!

Some photographers may complain about it, but I just love photographing outdoors on chilly overcast days! There’s a certain magic to the air when it smells like bonfire, and feels like it could start snowing any second. Plus, it’s a lot of fun to play with a wintery, muted, ‘outdoorsy’ palette in my editing.
Ashley’s parents’ farm in Morrow was the perfect setting for her engagement photos with Mike (and their lab-boxer mix, Rue!). I was having a photographer’s field day–tall trees, frozen creek, horses, and even a teepee?! You gotta be kiddin’ me!
Ashley and Mike are such a blast to hang out with. Our afternoon together was totally relaxed and filled with enjoyment, laughter, and good conversation. (And did I mention the teepee?!?) I can already tell that this will be the perfect spot for Ashley and Mike’s wedding–it is completely and totally “them.” I can hardly wait!
Friends and family, don’t forget that you can view all of Ashley and Mike’s photos, order prints, share to facebook, and more over at their full gallery!

Beth and John are the sweetest couple. From the first time we met, I felt like we had already known each other a long time, so there was no doubt in my mind that their engagement session was going to be fun and easygoing!! These two are totally adventurous, and even a little rain couldn’t stop them from laughing and having a good time together among the gorgeous fall leaves.
John and Beth, it was was a total blast hanging out with you, and I can’t wait for your big day in October!!
Friends and family, don’t forget–you can view more photos, share your favorites, and even make prints over at their personal gallery. See you there!
Oh man. I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun this engagement session was. We began the morning (yes, morning–don’t you judge us!) with a bloody mary and pizza slice in hand on the awesome patio at Homeslice. The setting was perfect, the weather was warm, and the light was just begging to be captured!
Then, we moseyed over to St. Michael’s in Old Town, where Doug and Queena took a romantic bicycle ride around the church they’ll be married at next year. St. Michael’s itself is absolutely gorgeous, but the area around it is also lovely–with its tall trees, changing leaves, and quiet streets, it was perfect for these two lovebirds and their bikes!
We finished the day at the beach, and one of my favorite spots overlooking the Chicago skyline–a lovely patch of grass and trees with the most magnificent view of the city peeking through! Sunlight and water and low clouds hovering around the building… oh my!!
Queena and Doug are a delight to be around–they’re both so fun and easygoing, and completely head-over-heels for each other. I cannot WAIT for their wedding next May!!
Friends and family, you can see more photos from Queena and Doug’s engagement, share your favorites, and order prints over at their gallery. Enjoy!
